Sarah Stremming - Worked Up !! Addressing arousal-related issues in sport dogs
Took place on:
Sept 16-17, 2017
10 Working Spots. Unlimited Auditing.
Worked Up! Addressing arousal-related issues in sport dogs:
This workshop is all about dogs that are over-stressed, over-aroused, over-adrenalized, and just plain over the top. Help your dog give his true performance in the ring by helping him be in a healthy state of arousal at trials. Part lecture, part hands-on, this workshop addresses everything that comes with problems of arousal: handler-biting, broken start lines and contacts, lack of focus, knocked bars, and more.
Ideal candidates are dogs that function well at home or in class, but can't seem to get it together in the trial environment. This includes, dogs that bite at or body slam the handler, dogs that become snarky ringside when they are generally not dog aggressive, dogs that can't think or function at the start line. Dogs that are not suited for this seminar are dogs that: 1) have environmental stress issues 2) have fear issues 3) have aggressive or reactivity issues towards people 4) dogs that have prey drive distractions. We strongly encourage all handlers to audit, even if your dog isn’t suited for a working spot. If you have any questions about whether your dog is suited for this seminar, contact Meredith at [email protected]
