Fearful/Shy

Prerequisite- None, but any basic manners are a bonus.

This class is for dogs that are shy, skittish, unsure (growly), around unknown dogs or people. We will discuss different methods to help you and your dog when in certain situations. You will learn how to help your dog be more confident and relaxed through desensitization and counter-conditioning. Dogs come to the first class and please bring a dog bed/blanket and lots of (pea-sized) yummy treats for your dog. Due to wanting to help our dogs, class size is limited to 6 dogs.

Tricks Class

Prerequisite- Dog should have at least Basic Manners, but preferably Intermediate manners. Need to be able to do sit and down.

This class will discuss some canine learning theory and we will use different training methods to teach our dogs tricks. If you would like to have some fun, improve your bond with your dog, and work on learning some tricks this class is for you! Dogs come to the first class and please bring lots of (pea-sized) treats for your dog.

Focus/Attention

Prerequisite- Preferably intermediate- dog has to have some a good sit, down, and stay. Exceptions can be made for dogs in beginners if we know the dogs are worked with.

This class will work on different control and focus exercises. Teach focus and slowly work in more distractions while the dog can expand its threshold and as the dog’s attention and self-control grow the exercises will expand.

Play/Socialization and Body Language

Prerequisite- must be a non-dog-aggressive dog.

The playgroup will be split into two age categories. One for puppies 2-6months and another for 6 months and older.

This class will have some discussion on canine body language and communication and then the dogs will be able to play and socialize. While they play you will be able to watch the dogs to observe what we discussed for that class. This class is ideal for dogs that need more socialization, dogs and humans that want to play and learn more about dog body language, or for the busy human who would like to give their dog some good play time amongst the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.

We do not temperament test the dogs prior to this class. If a dog is aggressive it will be removed from play (either for a short break or for the class). If a dog is permanently removed from this session there will be no refund of the class fee.

Each class will be approximately 45 minutes long and will be offered on Monday or Tuesday evenings.

Please remember that any class you participate in, it is your responsibility to make sure your dog is fully vaccinated. Despite our best attempts to make sure only healthy dogs enter our property we cannot guarantee that there are no lingering canine diseases and CKC is not responsible for any dogs that become ill.

Also, please remember that we supervise all dogs to the best of our ability, but just like humans not all dogs like each other. We are not responsible for any disputes and possible repercussions from doggy disagreements.
